Olivia: 4 Ways to be There For Your BFF On Her Wedding Day

You gave an Oscar-worthy toast at the engagement party, threw the bridal shower of her dreams, and helped her get low after numerous vodka sodas at the bach party. Now the big day is here, and you quickly realize your BFF duties are more important than ever.

Show your love and support with these wedding-day tips:

Hold Space

This is a concept I use a lot when teaching yoga. It allows people to feel the open energy and know they can come to you if they need anything. Holding space essentially means that you stay present in the moment, and leave room for your BFF to communicate what she needs too. Holding space could look like sitting in the room with her, making sure she doesn’t feel rushed, keeping quiet on any complaints you have about your hair, or playing a soothing playlist as she is getting her day started (with pump-up jams to come later of course!)

Capture the Moment

This is one of the most important days of your bestie’s life, and it’s going to be over before she knows it. Help her reminisce by taking tons of photos, especially those fabulous behind-the-scenes shots.

It’s likely she will have a professional photographer taking “traditional” pictures, so explore some unconventional ways to capture the memories. My personal favorites include disposable camera at the reception, and a polaroid photoshoot while getting ready!

Be Her Gatekeeper

There’s going to be tons of last minute things happening on your BFF’s wedding day, and everyone will assume their task is the most important. Field the questions, requests, and concerns people try to bring to the Bride, allowing her to focus on what’s really important- connecting with loved ones!

Prepare for Every Possible Outcome

Every wedding is beautiful in their own way, but every wedding will also have a moment where things don’t quite go as planned. A relative could get too tipsy, the bride could get a blister, or the flower girl could have a total meltdown.

Once again, you’ll save the day by stepping up and handling these mini-crises.

The best way to be prepared is to build an emergency wedding day kit, complete with everything you need to combat potential problems.
